Overview

The Stand-Up Paddleboard (SUP) Sheltered Water Coach Training is a two-day practical course designed for aspiring coaches. Ideal for those looking to teach paddleboarding in sheltered water environments, this course equips you with the skills to deliver safe, engaging, and progressive sessions for beginner and intermediate paddlers.


Course Details

  • Location: Stubbers Adventure Centre – meet at the Welcome Centre.
  • Timings: 9:00 am to no later than 5:00 pm each day.
  • Age Requirement: 18+
  • Equipment: All equipment is provided. Please wear appropriate clothing for water activities, and bring shoes suitable for water.
  • Facilities: Toilets, showers, and changing rooms are available onsite.
  • Food: A coffee shop is onsite, or you can bring a packed lunch and refreshments.

Duration

This two-day course covers a wide range of topics to prepare you for coaching SUP in sheltered water environments. Learn to coach technical and tactical skills, run engaging sessions, and support paddlers in progressing confidently.


Pre-Requisites

To join this course, you’ll need:

  • Full membership with your Home Nation Paddling Association.
  • Completion of British Canoeing Coach Core Training or a UKCC Level 2 Coach qualification.
  • Confidence in your paddling skills in sheltered water environments.

Course Content

During the course, you’ll cover:

  • Planning and delivering coaching sessions tailored to beginner and intermediate paddlers.
  • Developing a coaching philosophy and making informed decisions as a coach.
  • Understanding how learners progress and creating effective learning environments.
  • Using games and activities to enhance engagement and learning.
  • Reflective practice to support your personal coaching development.
