NEW WAYS TO GET YOUR ADVENTURE ON IN 2021

17th December 2020
<< Back to blog

Pssst… We want to let you in on a secret… Stubbers is about to get a whole lot bigger, better and even more adventurous!

We’ve hardly been able to contain our excitement over the last few months, so it feels great to finally tell you about some of the new adventures and massive improvements you can expect to see in the very near future.

Earlier in 2020, we received support from The Veolia Environmental Trust and £1million in funding from the Landfill Communities Fund to invest in new outdoor facilities for the local community.

As well as bringing you better hospitality and brand new facilities, we’ve been working around-the-clock to create exciting new adventures on land, water and even underground.

We can all agree that everyone spent waaay too long indoors over 2020... So, to kick-start the nation into action, we’re hitting the ground running, climbing, boating and exploring in 2021!

If you’re bursting at the seams to make up for lost time in nature, then we’re doing our bit to bring you more ways than ever to get your adventure on.

NEW ACTION-PACKED ACTIVITIES!

A SUBTERRANEAN ADVENTURE

Our new artificial cave system is one of the largest in the South East! Built with painstaking attention to detail to make you feel like you’re deep underground in a natural network of tunnels. And, for those feeling a little apprehensive, there will be a ‘mini cave’ just opposite that you can try out for size.

Descending into 120 metres of hyper-realistic artificial caves set into our hillside, you’ll navigate through a labyrinth of tunnels to make all kinds of hidden discoveries. As you clamber and squeeze through narrow rocky sections and emerge in three main chambers, you’ll come across paintings, fossils and other underground unknowns along the way!

CLIMB AND CLAMBER

Nestled among lush grassy mounds, our new Adventure Play Park will span three areas where kids are free to roam over wobble belt bridges, domes, scramble nets and so much more!

The area will include three main log climbing structures made from chemical-free timber, each designed with different age groups in mind to make sure that our adventures cater for young children, right through to teenagers. For cooling-off after all that climbing, we’re building wooden pagodas with seating in the shade.

We’re as passionate about the environment as you are. That’s why every element of the design will include natural elements wherever possible.

A JOURNEY THROUGH NATURE

Designed to bring kids closer to nature, our new Discovery Trail will lead you through our beautiful grounds and let children explore at their own pace.

Surrounded by lakes and woodland, you’ll find structures to climb, secret dens and fairy houses hidden in the woods, optical illusions in the trees, sculptures, wobble-boards and idyllic spots to stop for picnics.

There will be plenty of photo opportunities along the way, so don’t forget to share your adventure on Instagram!

TAKE TO THE WATER

As well as our action-packed water activities like kayaking, jet-skiing, power-boating and paddle boarding, 2021 will see a new boating lake especially for children and families.

Ideal for those who prefer calmer waters, we’re converting one of our smaller lakes to make it the perfect place for taking a gentle cruise in rowing boats and pedalos.

NEW AND IMPROVED FACILITIES!

  • CAR PARK: MORE SPACES FOR THRILL-SEEKERS

To accommodate more guests excited to try all our new adventures, we’re giving our car park a much-needed makeover, with a new surface and 125 new spaces.

  • THE LOOKOUT CAFÉ: END THE DAY WITH SUNSET VIEWS

With views across Russell’s Lake, The Lookout Café will serve drinks and snacks from a kiosk.

Opening out onto a decked terrace with seating sheltered from the wind, it’s set to be the perfect spot for watching the sunset over the water.

  • THE BOATHOUSE: RELAX AND RECHARGE

We’ve been busy refurbishing our old boat storage building to create a spacious private venue.

Modern, light and cosy, The Boathouse will be the perfect environment for meetings, parties and private bookings.

  • THE SOURCE COFFEE SHOP: CAFFEINE BEFORE ADRENALINE

The Source will still serve delicious snacks and coffee, but with some major improvements to the building.

There will now be easy ramp access (with no lip or sill to negotiate at the entrance), new toilets and customer-only seating on the terrace.

  • THE SNACK SHACK: THE ADVENTURER’S PIT STOP

For drinks and snacks on-the-move, and all-important ice cream stops, we’ll be opening our Snack Shack kiosk.

With outside seating overlooking our Adventure Play Park, it will be the ideal place to take a break and recharge.

  • NEW PICNIC SHELTERS: MAKE YOUR PACK LUNCH AN OCCASION

Built to accommodate up to 20 people and available for private booking, our brand new picnic shelters will be the perfect lunch spot for large groups, birthday parties and families.

  • BIG TOP MARQUEE: FOR LITTLE ADVENTURERS

Our new 15 meter-wide open-sided marquee will be dedicated to learning-through-play activities for toddlers.

EVEN MORE ADVENTURE IS IN THE WORKS

It’s been amazing to watch all our new activities and facilities come together, and we can’t wait to see kids, adults, families and colleagues getting outdoors to enjoy them. It’s all part of our mission to bring you unforgettable experiences that help you stay active, conquer your fears and get closer to nature.

This is just the beginning of our new adventure… We’ve got even more exciting new plans in the works that we can’t wait to unveil throughout 2021.

  • Took the kids there without booking in advance, arrived and easily booked in for the climbing and archery. The staff were all extremely helpful and great with kids.

  • We always have a brilliant time with our lads and ladies who have disabilities here. The staff are great. We enjoyed ourselves out on the sailing boats this time. The 4x4 driving is usually a big hit here.
